FUNNY HYMNS

My sister, Laurie, and her son, Taylor were in church with us in Vienna in 2011.  When we sang the song "Put Your Shoulder to the Wheel" they couldn't stop laughing.  

Where the English chorus says "Put your shoulder to the wheel, push along...."  the German version puts the words "frisch und frank" in place of "push along".  The words literally mean "fresh and strong", but don't you think they sound like two brothers, Frisch and Frank?

An even funnier version of this song was sung in Relief Society in Holland when we attended church there in October.  It's called

"Steek uw handen uit de mouw" or "Stick your hands out of your sleeves"  (I imagine this expresses the idea of rolling up your sleeves and getting to work).  Isn't that cute?
